Get Strength & Flexibility in 60 Days with PiYo!

In life, you're either a watcher or a doer. Some things you simply watch from the sidelines, others you jump in and actively participate...and you generally have a much richer experience!
Also on Monday, July 21st, we will be starting PiYo, a new fitness program with NO weights and NO jumping that takes yoga and puts it on its ear....no long pauses in holds, instead you're constantly moving to awesome music, stretching your body, using your own weight for resistance to create awesome results in a simple fun way. I'm excited because I'm a super cardio junky LOL and I think PiYo will finally help stretch me out to get even better results overall!

Shakeology Cleanse Day 2

Shakeology Cleanse...Day 2!

I completed the 2nd day of a 3 day Shakeology Cleanse. I am feeling great!! I'm feeling less bloated! Now, I'm not going to say this is EASY! OMG...The cravings were crazy yesterday! Jimmy John's and I had to break up! :)

Here is a break down of my food intake: 

Tuesday Meals
Breakfast – Green Tea & Chocolate Shakeology with 1/2 Banana
Snack – 12 Almonds
Lunch – Green Tea & Tilapia with Broccoli & Carrots
Dinner – Strawberry Shakeology with 1/2 Banana
Snack- Strawberry Shakeology

Current Weight After Day 2: 184 lbs
Current Body Fat % After Day 1: 37.8 %
Total Loss So Far: -6.1 lbs and -0.6 in Body Fat

3 Day Shakeology Cleanse


I started a 3 day Shakeology Cleanse yesterday. Basically, the program works like this, you replace your 3 meals with a Shakeology shake, then for dinner you have a salad with some chicken. This 3 day cleanse will help detoxify your body, and help you lean up and drop a few pounds of fat over the course of 3 days. For the first day, I felt great, almost gave in to Jimmy Johns but didn't! Hallelujah!!

You are not supposed to workout during the cleanse but since I am a fitness instructor, kind of have to. LOL  I taught my two Zumba classes...did more coaching than working out with them and also did Les Mills Combats Core Attack at home.

Starting Weight: 190.1 lbs
Starting Body Fat %: 38.4 %














Here is a break down of my food intake: 

Monday Meals
Breakfast – Green Tea & Chocolate Shakeology with 1/2 Banana
Snack – Clementine
Lunch – Green Tea & Salmon with Broccoli & Carrots
Dinner – Strawberry Shakeology with 1/2 Banana & Cliff Protein Bar
Snack- Strawberry Shakeology

Current Weight After Day 1: 185.6 lbs
Current Body Fat % After Day 1: 37.9 %

So today...I had to share! I am testing out a new program called the "21 Day FIX." I am on my second round of 21 day fix. ! I am currently down 11.1 lbs and a few inches of fat. So excited to see my results at the end of the 21 days!

Most of you know I am also a Zumba/Turbo Kick Instructor and teach 7 classes a week....sometimes more if I have to sub a class. You would think, I would be "shredded" or at my goal body fat %. That is not the case! My issue...I LOVE Food! Like really love it! Chocolate, Fried Chicken, Waffles...all of it! I guess you would consider me the poster-child for "You Can't Out-Exercise A Bad-Diet" :)



So when this new program came out to teach me on portion- control!! I was ALL IN! Not to say I have been eating "super-clean these past few days....not perfect.....BUT I am learning so much about portion control...I mean you can have too much of a good thing too. Ever been to a restaurant and you order a grilled chicken salad? More than likely, that ONE salad was made for THREE people. Gasp!!! :(

Anyhoo...if you LOVE Food like I do, want to lose 10lbs or more, I have 5 spots opening for my next Test Group. Hurry though...I will be selecting my 5 people soon. :)

How Often Should I Workout?

According to the Department of Kinesiology and Health at Georgia State University, more than 60 percent of adults in the United States do not engage in the recommended amount of physical activity needed for good health; 25 percent of people in the United States are not active at all. Exercise is an essential part of achieving optimal health and quality of life, so it is important to get adequate amounts of physical activity in your life. How often you should work out is really a matter of your current fitness level, the types of exercises you are performing, the intensity of your workouts, and how much time you actually have available to spend in the gym, However, The American College of Sports Medicine exercise guidelines for average healthy adults under the age of 65 states that you should do moderately intense cardio for 30 minutes a day, five days a week, or do vigorously intense exercise for 20 minutes three days a week and 10 minutes of strength-training with eight to 12 repetitions twice a week. The World Health Organization recommends that adults get 150 minutes of moderately intense aerobic exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic exercise weekly.

Getting and staying fit can be a challenge. For many of us, it’s hard just to get up off the couch. So what’s the secret of people who have managed to make exercise a way of life?

  • BE PATIENT!
Determining how often you should workout is a bit science, a bit art and a lot of experimentation.  Each individual is different and each person’s ability to recover may vary considerably from another’s, even if their experience level or intensity seems identical.

The best approach to determining the right training frequency is to ease into your workout schedule slowly and take note of the mind-body changes that you experience.  Keep a journal or record of your progress in notebook or exercise log or program. Make notes about your perceived intensity and whether you were sore the next day. This will help you determine the right workout frequency for you.
